Serving the Greater Cleveland, OH area, formerly known as G&M Pallet & Skid, Co., Cleveland Custom Pallet & Crate is a family-owned business with 40 years and two generations of experience.

Founded as a Christ centered business and workplace, a daily principle for the CCPC team is helping our customers meet their needs, while ensuring quality and satisfaction.

The Cleveland Custom Pallet & Crate (CCPC) Legacy

Mike Broeckel, founding owner and President had worked for Fisher Foods and Martin Brauer -- purchasing pallets at Martin Brauer.

In 1981, he took his experience with pallets and a desire to start a family business -- built a legacy with only hammers, nails and a pickup truck. Mike rented a field with a cubicle in Fairport Harbor and started out on a new business adventure, establishing G&M Pallets with his three sons.

History of CCPC

After about three years in business, Mike took on another partner, Bob McMillian. Bob stayed with the company 18 years until his death in 2001.

The next facility move was to Eddy Road with about 35 employees from the previous 12, while also running an additional small shop out of Northern OH Foods Terminal. At this time, they moved from delivery via straight trucks to tractor trailers. For a few years the company also briefly did some grinding.

The company then moved to Melinz Parkway in Eastlake where they operated for about four years and eventually streamlined operations and employees to about 25 people.

The company’s sixth move in 1995 was to its current location on Lakeside Avenue -- a 47,900 square foot cross dock-terminal sitting on 4.9 acres and centrally located with easy access to major highways.

With the move to the Lakeside Avenue location and more footprint and acreage, the vision and legacy was growing. The company was able to now incorporate both ISPM 15 Certified Heat Treating and crating into its business model.

In 2000 and again in 2010, the company rolled out new service lines for its customers with the goal and reputation of a quality product supported by exceptional customer service.

With the ISPM 15 Certified Heat Treating and new crating service lines firmly established and Mike as the sole owner since 2011, the company put on a fresh new face.

The name changed from G&M Pallet & Skid to Cleveland Custom Pallet & Crate, Inc.

This rebranding not only reflected the change in ownership and leadership but the shifting operational model and new service lines to explore.

The Legacy Continues

IIn 1988, like so many before him, “JR” Usrey explored a possible opportunity with G&M Pallet.

JR started out repairing pallets and working his way through every position and area of the business including business office and building changing infrastructure and that very important goal of quality product and exceptional customer service.

JR served as the General Manager and Vice President.

As of May 2024, JR will celebrate 36 years of service at CCPC.

IIn 2012, Mike and JR brought in Andy Archer.

Mike’s grandson brought several years of construction experience with him. Andy served as the Asst. General Manager and Vice President.

JR and Mike holding to the founding principles of the company of exceptional customer service and quality products knew that representing the company to its customers, meant Andy had to have a thorough knowledge of product, process and impact...especially of CCPC versus its competitors.

History Continues

While efforts had begun a couple years prior, 2014 was a deliberate turn toward CCPC's goal of creating a strong business model and infrastructure to support continued growth in a changing industry environment, accountability and strategic planning. This poised the third generation development into leadership and legacy of the family business as well as the pallet industry.

Specific goals with this process were accounting systems that not only gave total accountability but also depth of information and decision impacts on financial stability, growth and adding team benefits.

MILLWOOD ADDS CCPC TO THE FAMILY

IIn January of 2022, Millwood initiated conversation regarding the possibility of CCPC joining the Millwood family.

At the first meeting to discuss the option of an acquisition, it was apparent CCPC core values aligned with Millwood's pillars.

Following years of partnering and competing with Millwood, on May 2, 2022, CCPC became part of Millwood, Inc.

With the same goals on which CCPC was initially founded, the leadership team at CCPC strives to continue to build and operate with the same integrity, quality and exceptional customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction and trust.

We continue our efforts to stay focused on the biblical principles of service, utilizing God-given gifts and God’s amazing and sustaining grace in building with the Millwood CCPC team while servicing our customers.
